Tiny Teeny-Weeny Ceramic Bowl
Great for the salt on the table or just as a decoration.
It is fired with a very old method in a pit with live fire. The smoke from the materials, burning in the pit, creates the colours and the pattern so no two bowls will ever look the same. The fire gives the work its life but this firing method is a big strain for the clay so the breakage percentage can be high. It is a constant battle for survival or destruction in the fire pit. But when there is a victory the result can be an astonishingly beautiful and unique piece of art.
Pit firing is a low firing method and leaves the clay porous. To make it usable the bowl is coated with terra sigilata before firing, a mixture of the finest particle of the clay that seals the surface of the bowl some and adds sheen. After firing the bowl is treated further with a special sealer to make it food safe and waterproof.
Washing it in a dishwasher is not recommended.
Approximately 5 cm wide, 6 cm long and 1 cm deep (1.9 x 2.4 x 0.4 inches).
